The privatisation of Royal Mail and the signing of a ground-breaking IR Framework with the Communications Workers Union required a huge cultural shift across their business. Royal Mail selected TDP as the partner to provide advice and delivery support on the cultural change programme, connecting all parts of the business to the delivery of the Agenda for Growth, their strategic business plan.
TDP designed and delivered, with Royal Mail, a three-year cultural change programme, Together for Growth, to over 8,000 senior leaders, managers and trade union representatives across the entire Group. The programme focused on:
−The evolution of the Royal Mail culture from a business and trade union perspective
−Recognising reasons for historic and current attitudes and behaviours prevalent within the organisation
−Understanding the commercial business landscape, the agenda for growth
−Understanding new ways of thinking and behaving necessary to succeed, securing jobs and growth in a highly competitive market
−Developing skills which enable the engagement of the peers, managers, trade union colleagues and the wider workforce
−Creating and sustaining strong relationships within the organisation
−Developing skills in communicating with staff and colleagues in the workplace
Together for Growth is the most successful programme ever deployed in Royal Mail, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. The client reported significant levels of business improvement, an uplift in their quality measures stronger relationships at a local operational level and strong evidence of applied learning in making the cultural change in the business.
It provided the platform for Royal Mail to implement new delivery methods, technology and equipment on a national scale.
